When I was a little girl, I said: ‘I want to be a doctor when I grow up. ’ The inclination was authentic, I always tried to help people feel better emotionally and physically and I wondered what it would be like to be able to do even more. It seemed to me there was so much suffering in the world, including my own.
My interests lead to my degree in Psychology from UCSD and work at Scripps Institute as a research tech in the field of drug addiction and Psychopharmacology. I then went on to earn my Registered Nursing Degree and work in the emergency room and with medical/surgical patients.
As I gained more life experience through my education and work in those fields, I learned that doctors could help people in so many ways, especially in emergencies, but I also learned that they had a limited set of tools. Patients with chronic issues would end up adding to their list of health problems and medications, and there never was a return to health. So, I continued practicing as a Registered Nurse and decided not to pursue a degree in medicine.
After all these years of formal training and work experience, it was when I became a mother in 2001, that I entered an intensive period of personal and spiritual growth which led to a deepening interest in natural living, nutrition and sustainability. I continued to study and attend classes and experiential workshops in energy psychology, family constellations, spiritual studies, healing, herbs and nutrition, all to further enhance my knowledge of how to take really good care of myself and therefore my family. Having my own children encouraged me every day to ‘be a better and healthier version of myself’ and motivated my study and inner journey as it still does today.
All my studies had served me very well, however, it was when my second child became very ill, and neither doctors nor complementary alternative practitioners were able to help her that I found a homeopath, a healer; he saved her life. I was so exhausted physically and emotionally from caring for a chronically ill child, that I needed care as well. With the assistance of a homeopath, my autoimmune hypothyroidism and all of its debilitating symptoms are healed. It took over three years for my symptoms to completely resolve, however I gained strength and had relief all along the way. The best part of it all, is that I am also mentally and emotionally where I want to be; I now experience equanimity that had eluded me my whole life.
Because of the profound benefits my family and I experienced from Homeopathy, I was drawn to become a homeopath myself. I studied Homeopathy for four deeply nourishing and challenging years with Dr. Douglas Falkner, M.D. I have successfully worked with infants, children, and adults for a wide variety of health conditions, both acute and chronic.
Today, I am certain healing is about the spirit and the body follows. I am so grateful that I can help people on such a deep level. I think of that little girl and am in awe of the path that brought me here today.
A few more things about me:
My husband and I moved to New Zealand for 6 years and had our second child there. Living in New Zealand remains one of my most treasured experiences.
I adore gardening and the outdoors which informs so much of what I understand about natural laws. I like nothing better than planting all sorts of plants to create ecosystems for a diverse wildlife! We had our first Monarch Butterflies visit last year because of my plant choices!
I have one child who attends a rigorous college prep school and another who is home schooled; my husband and I do our best to guide each child honoring their individuality. We don’t seem to fit anywhere by conventional definitions, but it works for us!
A sampling of my favorite films are: ‘The Matrix’ ‘The Sound of Music’ , ‘Ratatouille’, ‘Vitus’, ‘Legally Blonde’, ‘Chocolat’ and ‘The Lord of The Rings’ series.
